My friend shared this little brisket tip with me years ago and it has been my go-to ever since. Who knew that an oven brisket recipe could be so easy? Thinking that cooking a brisket was a long and difficult process, I was intimidated by it. But not anymore!
I am from Texas and people around here take this stuff seriously! Because of that, I always thought a brisket had to be smoked for hours on end. Boy, was I wrong! I had never thought of baking a brisket in the oven. And even though I have had some really good brisket that was cooked in a smoker, this recipe to me is just as good.
Now we are a family of four and two of us are not big meat-eaters. So, I always buy a smaller brisket but this same method can be used on a larger one.
All you need is a brisket, a bottle of Claude’s Brisket Marinade Sauce, and a can or bottle of beer. THAT IS ALL!!
Always cook your brisket in the oven fat side up. I usually put mine in a 13X9 baking pan and cover loosely with foil, but this one was small enough that it fit into my 5.5 quart Le Creuset dutch oven. I use my dutch oven every chance I get, and the meat I cook in it like this brisket is always so tender! (I cook my roasts in it too.)
You can pour the beer and brisket marinade sauce on top of the brisket and put it in the fridge overnight to marinate. However, I did not take the time to do that with this one, and it was still over-the-top delicious!
Once you pour the liquids on the brisket, cover it and cook it in the oven low and slow. That’s the ticket! I preheat my oven to 275 while I am getting it prepared.
Put the brisket in the oven and cook it an hour and fifteen minutes per pound of brisket.
Once the brisket is cooked, LET IT REST for about 15 to 20 minutes. Then slice or chop it up and enjoy!
We usually serve ours with baked beans and potato salad or a baked potato. Also, we like to heat up some barbecue sauce and pour it over the meat. I’ve had several family members and friends call me up to say they made this for a party or a family gathering, and it was a hit. This 3 ingredient brisket recipe is a crowd pleaser!
