Do not stir cobbler recipe that is easy and delicious? Say what? Who doesn’t love a good ‘ol peach cobbler with a big scoop of ice cream? This is comfort food deluxe! I have a simple solution if you are in a time crunch or if you are just looking for an easy and quick recipe for a yummy peach (or any fruit you like) cobbler.
This recipe is from my family’s cookbook. The title my aunt gave this dessert…”Do Not Stir Cobbler“. We’ve been using this recipe for as long as I can remember.
I made this for the first time when I was a teenager. I took the name of this recipe literally. So when I read “Do Not Stir” in the title, I did not stir it! Little did I know, you have to mix the batter in this Do Not Stir Cobbler, but after that, it lives up to its name.
Next, you pour the batter into some melted butter and YOU DO NOT STIR! Follow that up with the next step. You put a can of pie filling on top of the batter, and you guessed it…DO NOT STIR! Oh! So technically there is one stir followed by two non-stirs in the Do Not Stir Cobbler. I get it now! Needless to say, my first cobbler went straight in the trash. My family still makes fun of me for that! Good times.
Add the fruit to the pan but do not stir!
By the way, you can use any fruit filling that you like. Some people boil their fruit down with sugar, etc… and maybe when my kids are grown I will look into that! My teens seem a little more with it than I was at their age and I think they would actually stir the batter first! (DUH!) But for now, I just buy the canned pie filling.
I have done this with peach, cherry, and apple pie filling. And oh my goodness!!!! It’s so stinking’ good! We recently finished a kitchen remodel and I couldn’t wait to get back in my kitchen and whip this one up!
I hope you enjoy this easy, simple but very delicious take on fruit cobbler! It has a delicious, buttery, crisp crust on top. This cobbler makes its own crust… that is its superpower. Let me know how you like this Do Not Stir Cobbler and ENJOY!!!
