Don’t you just love seeing new life come into a space? And one thing I love is finding ways to make big changes without the big price tags.I’m sharing a powder bathroom remodel before-and-after project that I just finished. We moved recently into a home that needed a little attention. One thing I was really excited about the possibilities of this half bathroom.
Modern Farmhouse Inspiration
If you saw mykitchenremodelpost, you know that we made some changes in our twenty-something-year-old house that made it feel a little more like home to us. The modern-farmhouse style was our inspiration when deciding on the renovation plans and I really wanted to keep things simple and clean.
Bathroom remodel before and after
Unfortunately, I did not get any good before pictures but I am sharing what I was able to capture from a video that I took. When we bought this house, the powder bathroom was very dark, even with the light on. We chose to paint it the same color white as the rest of the downstairs which brightened it up a lot.
Original tile floor and sink: It needed some help in a big way! Next, we took the existing tile out and replaced it with a fun black and white tile to add some interest. We ended up using this same tile in our laundry room, and in the pantry. I wanted a vanity that was budget-friendly but also different from what I might pick up at a home supply store.
One thing I regret that I will go back and change is the stain color on the vanity. There was a miscommunication with one of the guys and the stain was way darker than I wanted it to be. So eventually, I will sand it down and redo it myself.
Tips for doing a bathroom remodel
Overall, we are so happy with the way this powder bath remodel turned out for us. It’s simple and light with a modern farmhouse feel, which was what we were going for. If you are looking to do a bathroom remodel on a budget, I recommend these ideas. Most everything came from Amazon! Have you done any remodeling projects before? I recommend the following based on my experience:
Make a budget
Price everything out ahead of time
If you can DIY that is even better!
If not find a reputable contractor and make sure everything is in writing
Make a Pinterest board and pin all the different looks that you like to get ideas
Shop around for the best prices
If it’s not in your budget to do a remodel but you want a change, remember paint and maybe a new mirror or wall decor can make the biggest difference!
